Claude implementation
Claude for Small Business: Claude Implementation Around Your Real Workflows
How small and mid-size businesses deploy Claude: the right plan, the Claude for Small Business workflows, Projects and Skills, connectors and MCP, and custom Claude apps where off-the-shelf falls short.
What Claude for small business looks like in practice
Claude for small business works when Claude is set up around specific jobs, not handed out as another chat window. Seats handed out without setup get used for the occasional email. Seats with the right workflows, a Project per team, shared Skills and approved connectors get used daily, because the setup already knows your pricing, brand rules and where your data lives.
Operator Intelligence (OI) implements Claude for small and mid-size businesses, typically $1M–$10M in revenue. We start from the work: which workflows Claude should support, what it needs to read, what it may change and who checks the output. The plan, configuration and training follow, the same order we use for all AI enablement work.
What's new in Claude for Small Business (September 2026)
On September 15, 2026, Anthropic expanded Claude for Small Business to 43 workflows and 27 new integrations, including Shopify, Salesforce, TikTok, Atlassian, Zoom, Xero, Gusto, Square, Stripe and Zapier. The package launched on May 13, 2026 with Intuit QuickBooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, Docusign, Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, and Anthropic says it has since been installed more than 900,000 times.
According to Anthropic:
- It runs in Claude Cowork and is available on every paid Claude plan; Anthropic recommends Team for businesses with more than one person. Cowork is being merged into the main Claude app, starting with Pro and Max.
- The new workflows reach into growth, not just the back office: a Monday brief on cash, sales and pipeline, after-hours lead response, proposals priced from past jobs, social posts and review replies, and a month-end close packet for your accountant.
- Every workflow starts in approval mode. Claude stages the work and waits for your OK before anything sends, posts or pays, and existing software permissions still apply.
- Training is expanding: a fall Claude SMB Tour of free workshops in 10 US cities, and more than 150 organizations trained as Approved Claude SMB Trainers running over 750 community workshops.
The package still leaves decisions only you can make: which workflows to turn on, which permissions to grant and who reviews output. That configuration is the part we do.
How to set up Claude for Small Business, step by step
The order we follow with clients. Steps 3 to 5 follow Anthropic's own setup flow.
1. Pick two or three workflows
Start where the hours go, such as the weekly numbers, lead response or month-end close. Name an owner and a reviewer for each.
2. Choose the plan and set up the organization
Team suits most companies of two or more. Turn on single sign-on, invite members and move company work off personal accounts.
3. Install the plugin and run onboarding
Install Claude for Small Business, then ask Claude to help you get set up or type /smb-onboard.
4. Connect only what you need
Connect each tool at the lowest useful permission. On Team and Enterprise, admins control which connectors members can use.
5. Run first tasks in approval mode
Review every draft before it sends, posts or pays.
6. Add your own Skills and Projects
Load pricing rules, brand voice and checklists so output matches how your business works.
7. Schedule what works
Set proven workflows, such as the Monday brief, to run on a schedule.
8. Review at 30 days
Check use and time saved, then decide, one workflow at a time, which can run without approval.

Five ways small businesses deploy Claude
Most companies use two or three of these layers.
| Layer | What it is | Typical small business use |
|---|---|---|
| Claude with Projects | Chat plus shared Projects holding a team's instructions and reference files | A sales Project with pricing rules; a brand-voice Project for marketing |
| Skills | Packaged instructions Claude loads when a task calls for them, deployable organization-wide | A report format or QA checklist everyone uses the same way |
| Connectors and MCP | Links from Claude to business tools through official connectors or custom MCP servers | CRM history pulled into call prep; payments matched to invoices |
| Cowork and Claude Code | Agentic work through multi-step tasks on files, folders and code you choose; Claude for Small Business runs here | A weekly report pack; data cleanup; small internal tools |
| Custom apps on the Claude API | Your own application or agent with Claude as the model | A lead intelligence app like Wizard Leads |
Claude for Shopify and DTC brands
Shopify is now one of the Claude for Small Business integrations, which makes Claude a practical operating layer for DTC brands. Shopify's statement in Anthropic's September announcement describes merchants seeing live sales and inventory, getting a reorder drafted before a bestseller sells out and turning the catalog into next week's campaign, all inside Claude. For developers, Shopify's AI Toolkit, installable as a Claude Code plugin or through the Dev MCP server, connects coding agents to Shopify's docs and API schemas and validates Liquid and GraphQL code.
Store changes need more care than reports. For ROAM Luggage, a premium DTC luggage brand, Claude executes requested site changes via MCP inside a Shopify development theme, and a team member reviews and publishes each one; critical updates went from days to minutes. Our Claude and Shopify integration guide covers setup options and permissions, and agentic Shopify management is the managed version.

What a Claude implementation from Operator Intelligence includes
Claude implementation is the configuration, connection and training work that turns Claude seats into daily use. A typical engagement covers workflow and plan choice; admin setup with single sign-on and least-privilege connectors; Projects and Skills tested on real tasks; official connectors first and custom MCP servers where none exists or the official one exposes too much; custom builds on the Claude API where needed; and training, a short AI policy and adoption reviews at 30, 60 and 90 days.
Who can implement Claude for your team?
Three kinds of teams implement Claude for businesses: firms in Anthropic's Claude Partner Network, independent implementers and consultancies, and your own staff. Each can work. The right choice depends on the size of the rollout, how much custom building it needs and who will own the setup afterward.
- Claude Partner Network firms. Anthropic launched the Claude Partner Network in March 2026 for firms that bring Claude to their clients, and membership is free. As of October 2026, Anthropic's application page asks for a registered business with 10 or more employees that offers consulting, implementation or managed services. Claude certification exams are open only to people who work at member organizations, and partner tiers are set by the number of certified staff, deployed joint customers and public customer stories. Anthropic lists services partners in a directory at claude.com/partners.
- Independent implementers and consultancies. Smaller firms and specialists that configure Claude, build connectors and custom apps, and train teams without a partner listing. Ask to see production Claude work, who will do the build and whether everything will live in your accounts.
- In-house. A capable admin can set up a Team plan, connectors and Projects with Anthropic's own setup flow and its free Claude Academy courses. In-house works when the rollout is mostly configuration and someone has time to own it.
Operator Intelligence is an independent consultancy. We don't claim Claude Partner Network membership, a partner tier or a Claude certification, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic. What we bring is production Claude work, such as the Wizard Leads lead intelligence app, and Claude training for teams that leaves the setup running in your own account. To weigh the options for your rollout, book a scoping call.
Claude in production: the Wizard Leads lead intelligence app
For Wizard Leads, a Wizard-affiliated B2B lead generation company, we built a React web app powered by Claude Sonnet that monitors 15+ channels, including RFPs, Google Alerts, professional subreddits, inbound email and LinkedIn posts, then aggregates and scores leads. It took one month to build. Read the Wizard Leads case study.
“OI built this in a month and we now own our own lead aggregation tool.”
Claude or ChatGPT, and who trains your team
Many businesses run Claude alongside ChatGPT or Gemini, using each where it fits. We implement and train all three; our Claude vs ChatGPT for business comparison lays out the differences by team. Teams moving custom GPTs or Gems before the retirement dates can follow our custom GPT migration guide, which also covers making those assets portable to Claude.
Training is part of every Claude implementation. Claude training for teams covers Projects, Skills, connectors and Cowork in your own account, and Claude Code training teaches operators to automate files, data and reports safely. Co-founder Chad Westleigh, who completed Anthropic's AI Fluency courses and holds an MIT Professional Education certificate in Applied Agentic AI for Organizational Transformation, leads the training.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Claude cost for a small business?
Claude's pricing page (October 2026) lists Team Standard seats at $20 per seat per month billed annually, or $25 monthly, and Pro at $20 a month billed monthly. Claude for Small Business is available on every paid plan. Our implementation fee depends on the teams, workflows, connectors and custom builds involved; see how we price.
Should we choose Claude Team or Claude Enterprise?
Most small and mid-size companies start on Team, which includes shared Projects, Claude Code, Cowork, organization-wide Skills, connector admin controls and single sign-on. Enterprise adds SCIM, role-based access, audit logs, a Compliance API and custom data retention, with a 20-seat minimum.
Does Anthropic train its models on our business data?
Claude's pricing page lists no model training on your content by default for Team and Enterprise; on Free, Pro and Max it's an opt-out setting. We also configure data settings with your admin and write what never goes into Claude into your AI governance rules.
Can Claude connect to Shopify, QuickBooks or HubSpot?
Yes. All three are Claude for Small Business integrations, and HubSpot and Shopify also publish MCP servers. Where a tool has no connector, Anthropic says Claude can reach it through Zapier or a custom connector. Our AI integrations hub compares native connectors, MCP servers and n8n workflows.
How long does a Claude implementation take?
A team rollout with configured workflows, Projects, Skills and connectors typically takes two to four weeks. Custom builds take longer: Wizard Leads' app took one month, and quick-win pilots usually ship in four to six weeks.
